My name is Shahrin Karim — though many know me as Tukasha. I am the founder of KameezGhar, a South Asian fashion boutique in Bristow, Virginia. But my journey didn’t begin in a boutique. It began in Bangladesh, where after completing my master’s degree, I earned a diploma in fashion design — and back in 2008, my designs were featured in a magazine. Years later, I kept learning: I earned a Fashion Design certificate from Parsons School of Design (The New School) and a Digital Marketing & E-commerce certificate from Google, both in 2024.
Life then took me to New York, where I spent ten years as a banker. It was stable and respectable — but my passion for fashion never left me.
In 2016, during my maternity leave, I decided to stop waiting. With just $200, I started a Facebook page called KameezGhar. No store, no investors — just me, my phone, and a dream: to bring beautiful South Asian clothing to women in America who couldn’t find it here. For four years I ran it online, and the South Asian community embraced it with so much love.
In 2021, after moving to Virginia, I saw the gap clearly — women here wanted to see and touch these outfits in person. So I opened a small boutique in my basement. The response was overwhelming, and KameezGhar grew into what it is today: a boutique offering Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and Indo-Western styles, run by a certified designer — me.

My dream is bigger than a boutique. I want KameezGhar to be a bridge — bringing South Asian and other cultures together through fashion. Start small, dream big.
